News from New York classical composer Sean Hickey

Clarinettist Alexander Fiterstein, along with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic led by conductor Vladimir Lande, performed the Clarinet Concerto on November 23rd in the Large Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic to a crowd of 2200. Over the next two days, the same forces recorded the work in the famed Melodiya Studios in St. Petersburg. The work will be coupled with the Cello Concerto - featuring cellist Dmitry Kouzov - on a future CD release. Stay tuned for more details.

I'm extremely happy to share the news that two of my works, including the premiere of my trio, Avatar, will be performed at the New York Chamber Music Festival. Clarinetist Anthony McGill, violinist Elmira Darvarova and pianist Linda Hall give the long-awaited premiere of the three-movement work on September 15, 2011 at Symphony Space.

Pianist Philip Edward Fisher began recording sessions in Princeton, NJ with recordings of four of the composer's piano works: Cursive, Hill Music, Dolmen and The Birds of Barclay Street. The historic Miller Chapel of the Princeton Theological Seminary was the setting, John Baker, engineer and Ben Bierman, producer. Further sessions begin in the same location in September.

On June 4th, guitarist Nadav Lev performed Tango Grotesco, my only solo guitar work, at a private performance in Brooklyn Heights, as part of the house concert series. Lev is an outstanding guitarist and I encourage all to check out his site: http://www.nadavlev.com/.

Celebrated pianist Philip Edward Fisher, recording artist on both Naxos and Chandos labels, will record four works in June, at the Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ. Cursive, Dolmen, Hill Music: A Breton Ramble, and The Birds of Barclay Street will all be recorded for release next year. Stay tuned for more details.
